The Untamed Frontier is an ongoing pictorial investigation into what happens when painting stops behaving as a closed surface and begins to act as membrane, body and space.
The research brings together finished works and experimental studies. Matter, transparency, light, layering, time and movement make it possible to explore how painting gains depth, transforms itself and establishes new relationships with space and with the viewer's body.
Membranes are currently its experimental core. Different degrees of transparency, density, layering and distance between surfaces change the way light passes through the pictorial matter. The membrane is no longer merely a support: it becomes an active element that allows painting to acquire a reverse side, depth and spatial presence.
